Specialist craft of the Bai minority peoples who inhabit the Erhai Valley in Yunnan, these gorgeous single bed cover size throws are a living example of traditional patterning techniques. The design is stitched tightly enough in to the cloth to exclude the dye in a technique similar to, but with much more spectacular results, than tie-dye. The work is done mostly in one large village and the dying vats are in the courtyards of traditional Bai dwellings. Dyed on good quality 100% cotton using a local indigo dye mix, fully washable - but don't soak them!
